What is an IP Address?
There are plenty of reasons to log in to your router and many settings you can take advantage of to customize and secure your network.
In order to access your router, fill in 192.168.1.1 in your browser’s address bar.
192.168.1.1 IP address is the default gateway of most wireless routers or ADSL modems.
How do I access the web-based setup page of the router?
Before you access the web-based setup page of the router, make sure the router is powered on and the computer is wired to one of the ethernet ports on the router.
Then, Complete these steps:

- Open a web browser such as Google Chrome.
- Type http://192.168.1.1 manually into your browser’s address bar.

Note: The IP Address of the router can be changed by these factors:
- If you run the setup CD of the router
- If you change it on the web-based setup page of the router
If you forgot the IP address of the router, you can try one of these steps:
- Check the IP address of the router
- Press the Reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds.
Note: This procedure resets your router to factory defaults. Any settings on the router erased. The IP address of the router will be 192.168.1.1 and the password is admin after you reset it.
Enter your username and password to login to your router.

Once you access your router admin panel you can adjust several options regarding: IP Qos, DNS, Proxy, LAN, WAN, network management, security options, WLAN settings, PPPOE, MAC, WPS, DSL, and DHCP client.

Modifying Network Setting

You can modify Network name to make it more obvious if there are competing Wi-Fi networks in the area.
You can also choose to hide the SSID which means the name must be known by users in order to achieve access.
Channel – you can select the channel that your Wi-Fi network uses to transmit data to the connected devices.
Some routers can be set to automatically find the most appropriate channel.
The result of a network review may indicate that you need to change channels to improve performance.
